Jona Tanguay, MMSc, PA-C, AAHIVS (they/them), is a PA practicing in primary care with a focus on providing comprehensive care to underserved populations, especially sexual and gender diverse people. Jona is a graduate of the Yale School of Medicine Physician Associate Program. While at Yale they sat on the Dean’s Advisory Council for LGBTQI+ affairs where they worked on building and reforming LGBTQ+ Health curriculum. Jona has experience conducting qualitative HIV research, but their research and educational advocacy focus on safety optimization (harm reduction) for sexual and gender diverse people who participate in Chemsex. They are the founder of ChemsexHarmReduction.org, an educational resource for providers and people who participate in Chemsex. Jona has a passion for event planning as well as community advocacy and engagement. They are a board member of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality, and have also worked with organizations such as AIDS Project and the LGBT PA Caucus. Prior to Yale, Jona worked at Brigham & Women’s Hospital where they were on the executive board of the Brigham’s LGBT+ Employee Resource Group.
